Dan Henderson Vs Mauricio "Shogun" Rua will be the main event at UFC 139!

Hi guys,

News has recently been released that the main event at UFC 139 will be between Strikeforce light heavyweight champ Dan Henderson and UFC star Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. I am really excited about this fight! Both men are greatly respected in the sport of MMA and it is another one of those matches we would never have dreamed of seeing until Zuffa took over the Strikeforce promotion. Alongside this fight we will see a newly scheduled bout between Wanderlei Silva and Cung Le. The original match in place was going to be between Vitor Belfort and Cung Le but the UFC were forced to bring in fan favorite Silva due to Belfort suffering an injury. The nature of the injury is not yet known. These two fights are going to be amazing and the rest of the card is also stacked! I cannot wait to see this pay-per-view!

Thanks guys,

Jay Cee.

Alistair Overeem leaves Golden Glory Management!

Hi guys,

News was recently released that newly signed UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem has left his management team Golden Glory. It has been reported that the head of Golden Glory Bass Boon may take legal action against Overeem over his departure. Alistair leaving ends a 12 year relationship between himself and Golden Glory but also marks a fresh start for his new career within the UFC. Overeem will face Brock Lesnar at UFC 141 on December 30th 2011.

Thanks,

Jay Cee.

Mark Hominick Vs Chan Sung Jung a.k.a "The Korean Zombie" at UFC 140!

Hi guys,

News has emerged that one of the latest additions to the UFC 140 card is a fight between Mark Hominick and Chan Sung Jung. The event will take place on December 10th 2011 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto and this featherweight bout is sure to be nothing but exciting.

Mark Hominick will be looking to bounce back from his loss against Jose Aldo in which he challenged for the featherweight title at UFC 129. He lost the fight due to a unanimous decision but nobody can say that Mark didn't show heart that night. He also suffered a visually shocking haematoma on his forehead that which was literally the size of a tennis ball! Not easy to look at but Hominick battled through it as if it was not there, so props to Mark for the determination shown that night. I am sure we will see him back challenging for the title again at some point in the future. It would be a great help if you could secure a victory over "The Korean Zombie" which he will attempt to do on December 10th.

Chan Sung Jung who is known to many as "The Korean Zombie" started his US career with the WEC in April 2010. He lost his first match to Leonard Garcia in a fight which was described by many as "The Fight Of The Century". He then faced George Roop and lost the fight via knockout. Chan Sung Jung then came over to the UFC and got the chance to avenge his loss to Leonard Garcia with a rematch which truly did live up to expectations. The Korean Zombie got the victory this time with the UFC's first ever twister submission! Very exciting stuff to watch and I am sure the same will be said after Hominick and Chan Sung Jung face off at UFC 140.

Thanks guys,

Jay Cee.

Interview with MMA fighter Ché Mills!

Jay Cee: "Hi Ché, Hope you are well. You started your MMA career back in 2003 and since then you have managed to build up a good MMA record of 13 wins - 4 losses. Tell me a bit about how you first got into MMA? and what you did before starting your MMA career?"

Ché Mills: "I started in MMA by training with Mark Weir. I never had any previous MMA experience or any type of combat sports experience before, I just knew that I loved to fight."

Jay Cee: "If I am correct you will be fighting Chris Cope at UFC 138 which will be held here in the UK on November 5th. Please tell us a bit about how this fight came about? and also how it feels to get a shot in the no.1 MMA organization in the world?"

Ché Mills: "It came out of the blue really, I basically got a call late in the evening to tell me...bit of a shock to be honest, but a good shock."

Jay Cee: "What is your most memorable fight in your career so far? and why?"

Ché Mills: "I would probably say my second fight against Zaromskis, mainly just for the fact that I won the Cage Rage title and that it was close to home (Birmingham) so a lot of friends and family came."

Jay Cee: "What gym do you train at? and what is your favorite part of training?"

Ché Mills: "I now train at Trojan Free Fighters, I love my striking and could just spar all day to make me happy. I have got to say that lately since we have had Chico Mendes as BJJ coach I am loving every minute of it! I'm even getting quite good at freestyle wrestling believe it or not!"

Jay Cee: "MMA continues to grow and get bigger all over the globe which is great for the sport. It is especially getting more popular over here in the UK with organizations like BAMMA putting on quality events. What is your opinion on the state of MMA in the UK at the moment? and where do you see it going in the future?"

Ché Mills: "Its crap! They don't look after the fighters enough financially in my opinion. That being said its early days and we do need more mainstream coverage, so hopefully the next generation will benefit."

Jay Cee: "Who is your favorite MMA fighter past or present? And why?"

Ché Mills: "It has to be Anderson Silva, what really needs to be said about the man!? I have a lot of favorite people for different things, but Anderson overall."

Jay Cee: "Last question....Where can we expect to see Che Mills in say 2 years time? What are your goals for the future?"

Ché Mills: "Well my short term goal is just to stay in the UFC and prove that I can hang with the big boys....then who knows? All I know is that I am physically capable and I really get a lot of support from my head coach Paul Sutherland and the rest of the coaches."

Jay Cee: "Ok, great! Thanks for taking part in this interview Ché and good luck at UFC 138!"

The End

Hope you enjoyed that guys!

Mark Bocek Vs Nik Lentz is set to take place at UFC 140!

Hi guys,
The latest addition to the UFC 140 card is a fight between Mark Bocek and Nik Lentz. This lightweight battle is part of an event that will take place on December 10th 2011 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

Mark Bocek has recently been a bit up and down with his form in the UFC, so a win in this fight would be great for him. In his last fight against Ben Henderson at UFC 129 he suffered a decision loss. A win against Nik Lentz would really get him back on track to start climbing up the division again. Out of nine fights for the UFC Mark has earned "submission of the night" twice, once via standing rear naked choke against Joe Brammer at The Ultimate Fighter 10 finale. The other was via triangle choke against Dustin Hazelett at UFC 124. If he gets the opportunity he will go for the sub so Nik Lents will need to be very careful.

Nik Lentz was most recently in action against Charles Oliveira, the fight ended with a controversial victory for Oliveira in which an illegal knee was not seen by the referee. This lead to a submission victory for Charles which was soon overthrown by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission and the loss was made into a non-contest. Lentz has had seven fights in the UFC and is undefeated so far. If he carries on this way and keeps defeating top band fighters within the division then he will have to be put in the mix for a title shot. A win over Mark Bocek would be solid for Lentz.

Thanks guys,

Jay Cee.

Interview with UK featherweight Jeff Lawson!

Check out my interview with MMA fighter Jeff Lawson....

Jay Cee: "Hi Jeff, Hope you are well. You have been involved with MMA for a while now, tell me a bit about what got you into MMA? and what you did before starting your MMA career?"

Jeff Lawson: "Well I started my career in 2000 with a small am circuit. With very little striking (running front kick and superman punch) I did very well submitting all ten of my opponents with my now trademark armbar. It just snowballed from there really, I got calls about fighting and people who were in the game already looked to put me on. I just used to take fights left right and centre, relying completely on my grappling and judo skills. This all worked really well back in the day."

Jay Cee: "If I am correct your last fight was against Hatsu Hioki over in Japan. Please tell us a bit about how this Sengoku fight came about? and also what it was like to fight in Japan?"

Jeff Lawson: "To fight in Japan was a dream come true and to face a man of Hioki's calibre was amazing. I went out all guns blazing as the heavy underdog and his skills proved to be far better than I expected. He has to be one of the tallest feathers around."

Jay Cee: "What is the most memorable fight in your career so far? and why?"

Jeff Lawson: "The Japan fight was great for the opportunity, but the Greg Loughran fight put me firmly on the UK scene. Also a local fight with Rodrigo Arujo made my name here in my home town."

Jay Cee: "What gym do you train at? and what is your favorite part of training?"

Jeff Lawson: "I train at my own gym (Ippon Gym) in Bournemouth. My favorite part about training has to be the grappling and getting my Judo to work. There is still something about a really clean throw that sends your opponent flying."

Jeff Lawson: "To be honest I dunno. It has to be more mainstream and the more press we get the better. BAMMA is putting on really great shows now and a lot of fighters aspire to get into that show."

Jay Cee: "Who is your favorite MMA fighter past or present? And why?"

Jeff Lawson: "Past has to be Fred Ettish...legend! The present would still be Aoki, his Jiu Jitsu game is amazing! But thinking about it Genki Sudo is the man! I love the way he fights, the MMA world needs another Genki."

Jay Cee: "Lastly....Where can we expect to see Jeff Lawson in say 2 years time? What are your goals for the future?"

Jeff Lawson: "I think I will be firmly in to coaching at my academy although I still want to compete in the masters at BJJ, maybe even going to the worlds next year!"

Jay Cee: "Ok, great! Thanks for taking part in the interview Jeff, I appreciate it! Good luck for the future."

The End

Hope you enjoyed that guys!

Jon Fitch Vs Johny Hendricks set to take place at UFC 141

Hi guys,

News has emerged that a welterweight match between Jon Fitch and Johny Hendricks will take place on December 30th 2011 at UFC 141.

John Fitch has not had a fight since February due to a shoulder injury that has kept him out of action for most of this year. His last fight was against BJ Penn at UFC 127 which ended in a draw. This fight left many fans asking for the rematch, but this was not possible due to the injury. Prior to the BJ Penn fight Fitch had been on a five fight win streak with notable victories over the likes of Thiago Alves, Paulo Thiago and Ben Saunders. This fight against Hendricks will be a good test for Fitch as he makes his return to the octagon after some time off.

Johny Hendricks who will take on Fitch will not be a walk in the park. Hendricks enters the fight with an MMA record of 11-1 which instantly shows he is not a push over as many of the victories have come over top competition with the UFC. Johny suffered his only loss to Rick Story at The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale in which he came out on the bad side of a decision. At this moment Hendricks is currently on a two fight win streak with victories over TJ Waldburger and Mike Pierce. He will look to add John Fitch to that list of victories and continue his climb within the welterweight division.

It will be interesting to see how the fight plays out. Hendricks who is a former NCAA wrestling champ is a solid all-round fighter and in his last fight we saw much improved striking which will only complement his high class wrestling skills. Fitch is also very well rounded with good wrestling and Jiu Jitsu so will not be phased by his opponent in any way. This is an important fight for both men and notably the biggest fight that Johny Hendricks has had so far in the UFC. We will have to wait and see what happens.

Thanks guys,

Jay Cee.

Vitor Belfort Vs Cung Le at UFC 139!

Hi guys,

I just wanted to talk about a fight that has been booked for UFC 139 that you will definitely want to keep an eye out for. The fight I am talking about is a middleweight battle between Vitor Belfort and Cung Le. This match has excitement written all over it and I can't wait to see what happens!

Vitor's last fight was against Yoshihiro Akiyama in which he scored a spectacular knockout victory which earned him "fight of the night". Prior to that victory Belfort lost a title shot against long time middleweight champion Anderson Silva which has now forced him back to the drawing board. The victory over Akiyama is a good start but Vitor would be in an even better position with a big win over former Strikeforce champ Cung Le.

After taking some time off to pursue acting Cung Le has decided it is time to return to the sport that first made him popular. Reports suggest that he is very happy to have a chance to compete in the UFC and I think this match up is perfect. Both men are very experienced and look for nothing else but success. There will not be any fun and games. Both of these guys will give 100% and it will be a great spectacle for the fans in San Jose to witness.

This bout is just another in a great night of fights set to take place at UFC 139. As I always say....Don't miss it!

Thanks guys,

Jay Cee.

Kurt Pellegrino will return to the cage and fight for Bellator!

Hi guys,

News has emerged that UFC veteran Kurt Pellegrino will come out of retirement from MMA to re-ignite his career. He will make his return fighting within the Bellator Fighting Championships at Bellator 59 on November 26th 2011 at an event set to be held in New Jersey. On the night Pellegrino will face Patricky Freire who has an MMA record of 9 - 2 and is a solid fighter. Freire is currently coming off a loss to Michael Chandler at Bellator 44 and will look to rebound with a big win over Kurt who will be making his promotional debut on the night. Kurt Pellegrino was released from the UFC after losing two straight fights against George Sotiropoulos and Gleison Tibau. Kurt will now look to score a big victory to mark his return to the sport in November so make sure you tune in!

Thanks guys,

Jay Cee.

Nick Diaz is removed from UFC 137 for missing press conference so Carlos Condit steps in to face GSP!

Hi guys,

Today has been pretty crazy to say the least. The main event set to take place between Nick Diaz and Georges St-Pierre for the UFC Welterweight title at UFC 137 has taken a major blow. It has been revealed that Nick Diaz who would have been challenging for the title has failed to turn up to press events and conferences that are obviously essential elements to promoting the fight. During a press conference today in which Nick Diaz was missing, Dana White released the news that Nick has been removed from the event due to not turning up and that highly ranked contender Carlos Condit would replace him on October 29th 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Events Centre in Las Vegas. Nick Diaz has never really been know for his reliability but some of the things revealed today were quite shocking. We heard about everything from missing press conferences to sneaking out of his managers back door to avoid flights. It is all very bizarre to be honest. I am not sure anyone really knows what is going through Nick Diaz's head at the moment as he is currently missing in action and will not return Dana White's calls. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens to Nick but Dana White has made it clear that Diaz being released is most definitely an option. Nick has released a video in response to the situation. I will let you have a look for yourself below.

Thanks Guys,

Jay Cee.

Overeem signs with the UFC and will face Brock Lesnar at UFC 141!

Hi guys,

News has emerged that Alistair Overeem will take on Brock Lesnar at UFC 141 in a heavyweight battle for the number one contender spot. The event will take place on December 30th 2011 in Las Vegas and the winner will earn a shot at the heavyweight championship against whoever wins between Junior Dos Santos and Cain Velasquez at the UFC on Fox event in November. As many of you will be aware Alistair Overeem was released by Strikeforce recently over a dispute about not being able to compete due to an injury. There was much speculation around why this happened and as time went on it was revealed that there were also issues between Overeems management Golden Glory and Zuffa. These issues seem to have been resolved and Overeem has now signed with the UFC. This has opened the doors for the match up against Brock Lesnar to take place which is a match I have been silently hoping to see for a while. Both of these men are big and strong but I suspect that Lesnar may look to take it to the ground. Overeem is very strong in his stand up and may look to draw Lesnar into a fist fight. To be honest anything could happen. Brock has been out for a while due to a battle against diverticulitis which led to rumours about his retirement from the sport, but with the announcement of this match I guess he is on a strong road to recovery. This is sure to be an exciting heavyweight match and I am really looking forward to it!

Thanks guys,

Jay Cee.

Clay Guida Vs Ben Henderson at UFC on Fox 1

Hi guys,

News has emerged that a lightweight bout between Clay Guida and Ben Henderson will take place at the historic UFC on Fox 1 event that will take place on November 12th 2011. To be honest I cannot wait to see this fight. Ben Henderson's last performance at UFC on Versus 5 was really impressive as he scored a big win over top level lightweight Jim Miller. Clay Guida is also a top level fighter in the division currently on a four fight win streak, his last victory was against Anthony Pettis in which he scored the victory. The winner of this fight between these two men should definitely be in line for a title shot. Really looking forward to this one guys!

Thanks guys,

Jay Cee.

Cub Swanson is set to face Ricardo Lomas at UFC on Fox 1

Hi guys,

News has emerged that featherweights Cub Swanson and Ricardo Lomas will face each other at the UFC on Fox 1 event that will take place on November 12th 2011. Cub Swanson is making his UFC debut at the event after moving over from the WEC. Swanson has been out of action after a year off and will look to start building up a string of victories in the division. Cub managed to score three "Fight Of The Night" awards out of his 8 fights within the WEC which is pretty impressive. His opponent for the night will be Ricardo Lomas who like Swanson has made the transition over to the UFC from the WEC, but Lomas will not be making his debut as he has already competed in the organisation at UFC on Versus 4. On that night he faced Matt Grice and scored the victory via TKO. This should be a great fight and I really looking forward to it!

Thanks,

Jay Cee.
